This post is in perfect timing for our season. Many of us, will be spending more time outside. More time outside equals to more time in the sun. The sun does have benefits for us. The Sun offers Vitamin D, which makes you happy! The sun also creates UV Rays. Uv Rays are damaging to your skin, when too much is taken in. Lycopene is a Vitamin that helps restore skin damage. It can be found in fruit and vegetables. Three fruits/veggies in particular that have a high amount of Lycopene are Tomatoes, Watermelon and Grapefruit. These food items can be consumed before, during or after your time in the sun. I would suggest a little before and after. :)
A quick tip to help your body absorb the Lycopene better. Eat these three food items with a fat. Tomatoes can be consumed with a drizzle of E.V.O.O., and the Grapefruit and Watermelon can be eaten with feta cheese.
