Focaccia, a bread that is commonly misrepresented or poorly made in the States. It's one of Italy's go to breads to make a sandwich. Also know as Schiacciata(means Smashed), when you put meat and cheese in the middle and "Schiacciata" it together. In my opinion its the best for sandwich when it is made correctly. Its crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The soft and porous center allow for items to be spread, i.e. Pesto to slide on easily and be soaked into the bread.
